About us

We are former journalists and public sector PR specialists who focus on delivering results.

With decades of experience working with the NHS, local government, education and MOD, as well as the independent health and education sectors, Act PR knows how to make a difference to your PR and communications.

Yvonne Reay, Managing Director

Yvonne started her career in the NHS, before moving into journalism in 1990. Moving to the other side of the fence, Yvonne then joined one of the UK’s biggest providers of communications services to the public sector, Atlas Media Group.

In October 2007 Yvonne set up her own company, Act PR Ltd. Her award winning work has involved profile raising, media handling and high level crisis management, guiding clients through Panorama interviews, CQC reports and door stepping journalists.

With her excellent health, education and local government background, her team has already built up a growing portfolio of clients.

Anne Taylor

Anne Taylor, Associate Account Director

Anne started out her career as a journalist on the Telegraph and Argus and Wharfedale Observer newspapers, covering a range of reactive and human interest stories including the Bradford riots in 2001.

Anne moved from journalism into public relations and, like Yvonne, she worked for Yorkshire-based PR agency Atlas Media Group. Here Anne's clients included York Hospitals NHS Trust, Leeds Teaching Hospitals, Bradford District Care Trust and Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.

After honing her public relations skills Anne became the Communications Manager for the North Yorkshire Criminal Justice Board, which brought together the leading figures from North Yorkshire Police, Her Majesty's Courts Service, Her Majesty's Prison Service, the Crown Prosecution Service and the York and North Yorkshire Probation Service.

In 2009 Anne became a Director at See Green, a York based web development firm, where she continues to project manage, write content and provide public relations services and marketing advice for dozens of NHS organisations from local to national level.

Greg Moulds 3

Greg Moulds, Associate Account Director

A former journalist, Greg has spent nearly 20 years working across the health sector, six of them at executive level within the NHS before leaving to work on a consultancy basis. He works alongside the Act PR team to manage various public sector accounts and is particularly involved in public engagement strategies.

In the NHS Greg led the communications function at two of the UK’s most high profile NHS Trusts, first as Head of Communications at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and then as Director of Corporate Affairs at The Royal Cornwall NHS Trust.  He is also a former Director of specialist healthcare consultancy Atlas (which became part of Tribal Group).

Lucy Oates, Associate Account Director

An award-winning communicator, Lucy has more than 20 years’ worth of journalism, PR and marketing experience, gained in both in-house communications roles within the public and private sector and on a freelance/consultancy basis.

Her core skills include writing and editing; an ability to spot and tell a story; and developing strategies to communicate key messages clearly and effectively across a variety of different platforms, from print and broadcast media to digital channels.

Lucy provides strategic advice and practical support to a wide variety of public and private sector organisations on a broad range of communications projects, and also writes for both national and regional newspapers and magazines on a freelance basis.

Melissa Cooper, Account Manager

Melissa is a communications specialist with several years NHS and public sector communications and marketing experience.

Creativity comes as second nature to Melissa, who is as happy turning her hand to design and multimedia creation, as she is writing articles or arranging interviews.

She's passionate about campaigning, with plenty of experience in getting impact on a shoestring budget. From development through to execution and evaluation, Melissa enjoys the strategy and problem solving side of a campaign as much as the social media and press calls.

A champion for new and developing communications techniques, Melissa is eager to keep abreast of the latest trends and has trained in Google around AdWords and SEO, as well as completing the coveted public sector ‘Social Media Expert’ course.
